Yoga Is For Woman Of All Sizes, And This Video Proves It

Yoga Is For Woman Of All Sizes, And This Video Proves It

Remember when Chip Wilson, the founder of cult yoga-wear brand Lululemon made a comment about women with arses interfering with the fabric of a line of yoga pants his company was selling? Basically how they were to blame for the pants being too sheer when in use? I think the exact charming line he spun to Bloomberg TV was. ?Frankly, some women’s bodies just don’t actually work.?

He oozed with so much charm he eventually stepped down from his role, but remained a board member.

It was a stupid, hurtful, and just plain wrong comment to make. Especially in relation to paying customers who enjoy yoga, an increasingly accessible practice with countless benefits for people of all ages and fitness levels.

However, this perception that yoga ?belongs? to flexible human whippets persists and it’s a recurring image which may be putting some women off the om. Which is why we’re welcoming this video from Penningtons, a plus-size Canadian store, with open come-here-to-me arms. The company is running a campaign called #IWontCompromise showing its customers, and us, that body confidence is something to be embraced and fitness goals aren’t just the purview of what society deems traditionally ?fit? looking.

Penningtons says it wants to ?create a new convention: that beauty, strength, and confidence come in different sizes, shapes, and heights. #iwontcompromise is a movement that celebrates doing what we love, wearing what makes us feel good, and being who we are without compromise. No limits, no fears, no judgments, just pure enjoyment. When we hold ourselves back in fear of how we may be perceived, society misses out. Let them stare. Let them see what we can do.?
