The O.J. Simpson trial was one of the most defining events of the 1990s. In June 1994 the football star was arrested following the violent murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and waiter Ronald Lyle Goldman. There was immediate public interest in the case. It was Hollywood, gory, political. The 24-news cycle jumped on it, gorging itself on every detail. The eventual Not Guilty verdict even featured on an episode of Reeling in the Years. It’s modern history. The trial, which took place in the closing months of 1994 with the not guilty verdict delivered in January 1995, involved some of LA’s biggest names.
Now, one of the most notorious trials in recent decades is coming to the small screen in American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. John Travolta, Cuba Gooding Jr., Sarah Paulson and David Schwimmer are among the cast and the trailer has just been released.
Also, celebrity news addicts may want to keep their eye out for Selma Blair’s performance as Kris Jenner. Before her marriage to Caitlyn, Kris was famously married to Hollywood lawyer Robert Kardashian, who represented O.J. Kris was further embroiled in the case as she was friends with Nicole Brown.
The American Crime Story series is an anthology one, like American Horror Story. Every season will focus on a different high profile crime. American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson premieres in the Spring.
