Unsettled conditions and cold temperatures mark a change in Irish weather this week

After a much welcome dry spell, our weather is set to change this week with unsettled conditions and cooler temperatures

Over the last few weeks, we have enjoyed the benefits of a sunny Ireland within the confines of a 2km radius. It made days brighter in both a figurative and literal sense.

However, a change is on its way.

Following a wonderful dry spell for the country, unsettled conditions and cooler temperatures are on their way this week.

According to Met Éireann, today will be a mainly cool and bright day for the country with an odd scattered shower in the north and northwest. However, a few showers may develop later in the day in southern counties. These showers will become isolated tonight, while it will be very cold with temperatures dropping t0 2 degrees in places.

Outlook

Tuesday looks set to be dry and bright once again with scattered showers and highs of 14 degrees. Tuesday night will see an increase in cloud making its way across the country, with outbreaks of rain in southwestern coasts by Wednesday morning.

Wednesday will be generally cloudy with rain for most of the country and winds that will be gusty at times. It will be significantly cooler, with temperatures between 9 and 12 degrees during the day and a drop to between 1 and 3 degrees in the night.

Thursday will begin with some patchy rain and drizzle but it will be dry and cloudy in most places by afternoon.

As for next weekend? Well, Met Éireann forecast milder but largely unsettled conditions with showers or longer spells of rain moving up from the south and southwest.

Here’s hoping it’s not too long before sunny weather makes its way back again.
