These colourful raincoats have Irish staycation written all over them

Frantically scrambling to organise your annual staycation? Sounds familiar. We may not have any of the really important stuff booked (activities, restaurants, Airbnbs), but we’ve been planning our outfits for weeks already and these colourful raincoats are sure to feature heavily. Summer in Ireland = showers, after all.

Giovanna Fletcher’s second time collaborating with Regatta Great Outdoors, her latest collection is an ode to beachy holidays by the sea… and though we may not get the weather we’d like, the eight-piece collection exudes sunshine.

Heavily inspired by nautical trends – including the ever-classic Bretton stripe – the line is vibrant and eye-catching while still practical for the Irish elements (so you don’t have to choose between fashion or being dry).

The waterproof and breathable Bayla Jacket comes in two new colourways this season; Miami Red and Maise Yellow making it the perfect coastal throw-on to see you through whatever the Irish aimsir decides to throw at us this year. Made from sustainable cotton, the Bayla Hoody is an ideal layering piece for transitional weather and can double as a beach cover or a warmer jumper, depending on the elements.

The Blakesleigh is another key piece in the new collection and is effortly stylish for everyday wear. Made from recycled fabric, this navy, hooded longline mac works as well for your morning commute as it does a jaunt around your local park, doggo in tow.

Speaking at the collection’s launch at an intimate dinner over in London, Giovanna Fletcher said that one of her favourite things about the line is that you can just “chuck on each piece and go” – fashion should be fun but functional too.

The Carmine comes as both a maize yellow gilet and as a short, quilted jacket in classic navy – an essential piece in creating a smart, capsule wardrobe. Both are water-repellent, made from recycled fabric, and boast Thermoguard insulation which uses synthetic fibres to trap air within the material so it keeps you warm in cold conditions and is quick–drying, easy to care for and versatile.

Following on in the blue story, the Novalee and Birdie waterproof jackets give a nod to the sea with powder blue ticking stripe and bold colour block Elysium blue. The Novalee also features a hidden hood and funnel collar for those surprise downpours… which I’ve learned can never be predicted but are always imminent.

The Regatta x Giovanna SS23 collection launched online this week. Retailing for between €56 to €130, you can shop the full collection in selected stores or on the Regatta Great Outdoors website. We may earn a commission if you buy something from any affiliate links on our site.
