Today In Grim: Sarah Jessica Parker Once Sent A Treadmill By Producer

We all know – in the internet age this is beyond the verb suspect – that Hollywood and the movie industry in general can be the pits for women. You’re every inch of skin is considered public property by prying camera lens. Your personal life is a cadaver ripe for the picking.

However, sometimes there comes along an anecdote that just makes us sad as opposed to blisteringly angry. Today, that throwaway memory belongs to Sarah Jessica Parker, the actress who dominated television screens of the noughties as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City.

SJP was speaking to radio station SiriusXM when the tale of the treadmill came to light. The 50-year-old actress was talking about her favourite songs during a segment with host John Benjamin Hickey and how she used to run with a discman to Everybody Dance Now by C+C Music Factory and it was her go-to workout song. The reason such an earworm dominates her life? Turns out a producer was ‘very concerned? about Parker’s fitness in the run-up to shooting a movie in 1992, so a treadmill was sent to the actress. Talk about a hint.

“I was about to do ‘Honeymoon In Vegas’ and before that I was off to do another movie in Iowa and the producer of (the film) was very concerned about me being fit for Honeymoon In Vegas so they sent a treadmill to Iowa,? she said. ?I would very diligently go out every single day and run like a lunatic to (?Everybody Dance Now?) and then when I went to Iowa, on the treadmill, I would continue to run like a lunatic to the song.?

The radio host asked her could she sue someone for that now. Can she? Why is the entertainment industry so f***ed up?
