Real Wedding: A rainy Irish love-in

Real Wedding: A rainy Irish love-in
The earthy tones and down-home textures of this big barn shindig say American Gothic as much as they speak to a rainy Irish love-in.

THE CEREMONY

For a secular ceremony, finding a space with drama, and the room to hold your guest list, can be tricky. When visiting a country house, always ask about their barns and outbuildings; if you’re considering an urban restaurant, look into empty industrial buildings nearby. Even if they haven’t been refurbished, spaces like these can be super romantic when cleaned up, lit well-using festoons or chandeliers and filled with as many flowers as you can afford (have these rushed over to your reception space, during post-ceremony photos, to get your money’s worth).

THE MOOD

This depth of colour and abundant aesthetic is key in creating an event that exudes warmth – a must for any Irish wedding happening outside high summer. It also means that very little is off limits when it comes to dressing your space; if you love it, it’s in.
Before guests even arrive, they’ve been introduced to the folksy botanical theme via the gorgeous suite of printable invites, cleverly scouted from Etsy – a smart way to save on budget, which no one will ever suss. Sssh!

THE DETAILS

We love how each design element adds to this event’s comfort food vibe, feeding conversation at the guest tables. Everything from whimsical dinnerware, to handmade origami name-card holders, bespoke string art, beribboned dream-catchers and beflowered antlers, speak to the couple’s journey, thus far and hinting at what’s to come.
