The IMAGE Christmas Gift Guide For Men (By A Man)

Men are meticulously difficult to buy for at Christmas time and it often causes unnecessary stress for mothers, sisters, and girlfriends. We know that there is?nothing better than the gift of giving, but the?joy of seeing the one you love open a gift that you know they’ve been lusting after for months is unparalleled. With that in mind, we’ve recruited designer and man-in-the-know Jake McCabe to give us a better insight into what the men in your life actually want this Christmas.?So if you’re looking for some inspiration; whether it’s a brother, boyfriend or your beloved dad, hopefully, you’ll find it here.

Accessories

Mr. Jenks is an Irish brand who offer classic men’s accessories. Both their pocket squares and umbrellas are designed to take you from your trip to the office to evening drinks, or to that wedding in the new year; all while helping you stand out from the crowd. One of my favourites is the rich navy silk of the ?Ireland in Bloom?, which contrasts a beautifully simple arrangement of flowers in the shape of Ireland. At a very reasonable €29.99, they can be found online or in one of their 9 Irish Stockists.

I’m a firm believer that every good man needs a great hat. Harking back to times gone by, there is something amazing about a well designed and constructed hat. This isn’t your standard flat cap or baggy beanie.?For the beginner, try this wide brimmed Puritan fedora from Topman. Available in navy, camel or luscious brushed emerald, these suit most male complexions and take an outfit from bog standard to sartorially savvy. €25-40

topman-2For the pro who is looking for an upgrade, you need not venture any further than South Anne Street Dublin. Grooming

Men can be notoriously bad at taking care of themselves and often favour the simple solution when it comes to grooming products.?I’ve found that Pure almond oil is one of the best moisturisers to battle the changing Irish weather. Not only will it bring a bit of life back to the skin, but it’s also perfect for hair and promotes healthy beard growth. Available from Dr. Harris online from €11.50.

When it comes to scent, everyone should be able to leave their mark. With that in mind, Tom Ford is a reliable favourite for Irish men. Designed for those who strive towards sophistication, you simply can’t go wrong with anything from his collection. My personal favourite is the Tobacco and Vanilla but if you’re unsure, I’d recommend the simple and pared back Tom Ford for Men. Available for €90 online.

Every now and then it’s nice to break the monotony with something a little different.
