With so many fashionable options, be they thick rimmed, an homage to the style of John Lennon or classic Deirdre Barlow jam-jars, wearing glasses has now become something that people actually relish. Late this week, the RHA Gallery on Ely Place played host to the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year event, drawing quite the crowd of specky enthusiasts, ourselves included. We were there to check out not only the latest in must-have frames from Specsavers, but also to see who would reign supreme and go forth to represent Ireland at the final event in London this October. Darren Kennedy hosted the event, with guest judges that included Celia Holman Lee.?Jenny Keane, wearing a striking yellow jacket, took home the top prize.
