#ShePersisted Celebrates Badass Women In History

Thanks to Twitter, incidents of casual sexism have little chance of going undetected, which in our eyes, can only be a good thing. And there’s nothing more uplifting than seeing women rally around other women when they’ve been unfairly shunned into silence. ?When?Massachusetts Democrat Elizabeth Warren was silenced in this manner during the Senate by majority leader?Mitch McConnell – she had been reading aloud a letter written in 1986 by Coretta Scott King, in which she criticised Senator Jeff Sessions, during which she was abruptly halted and banned from the floor (the letter apparently broke a decree stating Senators could not call other Senators into question) – she defiantly?promised on Twitter that it was “just the beginning,” prompting?McConnell to say this: ?She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.?

And that was what has been turned into a feminist battle cry: #ShePersisted. McConnall pulled a Trump – remember when #NastyWoman backfired on him? – and the women of Twitter decided to make an example of him, by sharing images and quotes from incredible women in history who persisted, who triumphed and found a way to change the world. Read, share and never let anyone silence your voice.
