Irish Design 2015 continues in earnest with Side by Side, an inspiring exhibition of work from the Design & Craft Council of Ireland’s PORTFOLIO: Critical Selection 2015-2016. Holding court at the National Craft Gallery until April 28, the exhibition will showcase work from the masterful makers at the cutting edge of Irish contemporary craft?

The Design & Craft Council of Ireland’s biennial PORTFOLIO: Critical Selection publication celebrates the highest standards of Irish contemporary design and craft, handpicked by an expert international panel. Taking place as part of ID2015, Side by Side will showcase work from 22 innovative Irish makers selected for the 2015-2016 publication, on the basis of excellence in craftsmanship, design quality and technical skill by international standards.
Curator Christina Jansen, of The Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh, explains that the title is a nod to the vital role of history and tradition in informing contemporary craft, and an acknowledgement of the confluence of heritage and history, change and innovation.

Click through the gallery or see our Side by Side Pinterest board for a taste of what you can expect from this arresting exhibition, running until April 28.
