Sam Smith for James Bond?

Page Six is reporting that Sam Smith will be singing the next James Bond song after beating Lana Del Rey. In recent weeks Smith has been talking to Barbara Broccoli, the franchise producer who lobbied for Daniel Craig to take over the role of the spy, and it seems he charmed her, thus guaranteeing himself a spot in movie history.?Page Six contacted Smith’s representatives who are remaining tight lipped but gossip sites seem pretty assured that the Englishman will be following in fellow British singer Adele’s footsteps.

Smith’s potential new gig isn’t a huge shocker. The young singer – born in 1992 if you want to feel ancient – has been one of this year’s most exciting artists, wining fans both sides of the Atlantic for his soulful vocals. Ever since the release of his debut studio album last May,?In the Lonely Hour, his career has been going from strength to strength, with ballad?Stay With Me proving something of a signature tune.

The next Bond will be released November 2015 and still doesn’t have a name. Don’t worry though, Daniel Craig is returning with new French actress Lea Seydoux filling in as the new Bond girl.

Do you reckon Smith’s efforts be as good as Adele’s sublime?Skyfall?
