Reasons Gigi Hadid Will Dominate 2015

Last year was all about Kendall Jenner. Did she deserve her career? Was she a flash in the pan? Was that Coachella piercing cultural appropriation? 2015 though is Gigi Hadid’s year, and her new role as the face of Maybelline New York. She now joins luminaries such as Christy Turlington, Adriana Lima, and Jourdan Dunn at the beauty brand.

So why should Gigi Hadid’s be the one name you commit to memory this year? We list some of the reasons why this girl is about to be everywhere.

She was born into it

Forget the iconic tagline, Hadid was made to be a model. She was discovered aged two by Paul Marciano. Since signing with IMG in 2011 she has steadily worked with some of the biggest brands in fashion these past few years. Hadid’s CV includes not only the covetable Guess campaign, she’s also walked for Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Sonia Rykiel and Giles and starred in the 2015 Pirelli Calendar.

Pretty impressive for a girl who’s still only 19-years-old.

She’s a social media star

Like Kendall Jenner, Hadid comes from a reality television family. Her mother Yolanda Foster is one of the The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Such a media dominated background has made Hadid a natural in front of the camera. She comes across as natural and charismatic in interviews and is so tech savvy she even announced her Maybelline appointment on Instagram in a short video.

Anna Wintour has got her back

Getting to the top is so much easier when you’ve got the most influential woman in fashion on side. Hadid has been a US Vogue regular this past year and was handpicked to recreate Anna Wintour’s first cover of the magazine last summer for the relaunch of vogue.com.

Carine Roitfeld mentored her

When the former Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Paris thinks you’re cool, you’ve pretty much got it made. Roitfeld is so impressed with Hadid that she put her on the fourth installment of the?CR Fashion Book. Major stamp of approval.

She keeps star studded company

When Gigi Hadid does a selfie she does it well, and usually with another celebrity in tow. That celebrity being Kendall Jenner. Celebrity modelling is a tough gig so it helps to have someone who gets in on side. Also, nothing like wearing headscarves and pouting on a trip to the Middle East to get those column inches writing themselves.
