Pick up the latest issue of Image Interiors & Living for some small-space inspiration

Embrace those January feelings of renewal and freshness with the new issue of Image Interiors & Living. Here’s a preview of what’s inside.

Although you may be feeling a little blue that Christmas is over and it’s no longer acceptable to eat mince pies for breakfast, there is always something appealing about the beginning of a new year. Fresh starts can come in many different guises, and your home can be one where a little rejuvenation can make a big impact.

In the January/February 2020 issue of Image Interiors & Living, we’re leaning into this feeling with inspiring ways to tackle small spaces, from the much-maligned galley kitchen to Irish homes that give a masterclass on making the most of their limited space.

As always, we’re also visiting some Irish creatives, passing on some foodie recommendations, and keeping you up to date on the latest in Irish design.

The houses…

Each of our houses this issue make the most of a relatively small space. This townhouse, above, in Ennistymon, Co Clare, was completely transformed by a creative couple in six weeks and with a budget of just €25,000 into an airy, calm space that prioritises natural textures.

Our cover star house is a modern cottage that combines modest dimensions with pure luxury, while we also feature this Belfast home, above, which was reconfigured by Studio Idir architects to optimise it for family living, including this beautiful pantry. We also pay a visit to illustrator Sally Caulwell’s Portobello home, and a compact East Wall property that was completely transformed.

In our focus section, small space solutions take centre stage, from a series of case studies showing just how much potential a modest square footage can contain to reexamining the nooks and crannies in our homes that could become useful spaces.

Orla Neligan looks at how to tackle a tiny bathroom, while editor Amanda Kavanagh makes the case for the often-dismissed galley kitchen.

Winter escape…

While we love the fresh start January brings, we’re not so fond of its continued cold, wet weather, so we’re dreaming of warmer climes with Cliodhna Prendergast as she takes a trip to Morocco. We’re also taking inspiration from the simple luxury of Berber Lodge, where she stayed during her trip.

The January/February issue is available in stores now, or pick up a copy online here.
