Last night, LA once again played host to the biggest night in Hollywood: The Oscars 2017. We’re about to go bananas with best-dressed?galleries and what have you, but first, the winners. Ruth Negga didn’t nab the gong for Loving (though we’ll be seeing her on that red carpet in the future undoubtedly), but she did nab our best dressed of the night – see our gallery HERE.
It was a huge night for La La Land – they took home six Oscars including Best Director for?Damien Chazelle (the youngest ever winner in this category, at 32), Best Actress for Emma Stone and Best Original Score and Best Original Song – but it was an equally big night for Moonlight;?Barry Jenkins? coming-of-age drama?took home the top prize of Best Picture last night but this was thanks to a shocking twist of events – ?in an apparent envelope mix-up, the presenters of the award, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, initially read out La La Land, somehow having been given the envelope for Best Actress (which went to Emma Stone for that same film). It was a bizarre mix-up (more details on this in our Oscars’ best bits round-up next) and will no doubt go down as one of the most shocking twists in Oscars history.
Moonlight also won Best Adapted Screenplay; Casey Affleck kept Denzel Washington at bay to win Best Actor, and Viola Davis took Best Supporting Actress in an emotional speech.?But frankly, it’ll all be overshadowed by the Best Picture fiasco, which we still can’t get our heads around. At the?time of writing, it’s still unclear what exactly went wrong but some Hollywood powers that be will have major explaining to do.
