Novak Djokovic Thinks Men Should Be Rewarded More Than Women In Tennis

Novak Djokovic. You know, that really successful #1 male tennis star in the world? Well, you may have followed him passionately on the court but this just might put you off; he doesn’t think women in tennis deserve the same prize money as the men.

We’ll just leave that with you for a moment…

Has the rage simmered? No? Okay, we’ll give you more time…

Yes, sadly this is true. Djokovic’s comments come after CEO of Indian Wells Ray Moore said a horrendous amount of horrible things about women in tennis, among which phrases like women should ?go down every night on their knees and thank God? for the men in the sport, that these same women are ?riding on the coattails of the men” and that they should consider themselves ‘lucky’ to have such strong men leading the charge, are included.

Needless to say it wasn’t long before Serena Williams set out to tear Moore a new one, and rightly so. But then Djokovic weighed in.

Here goes; brace yourself:

?[It is] a delicate situation?I applaud them for that, I honestly do. They fought for what they deserve and they got it. On the other hand I think that our men’s tennis world, ATP world, should fight for more because the stats are showing that we have much more spectators on the men’s tennis matches. I think that’s one of the reasons why maybe we should get awarded more. Women should fight for what they think they deserve and we should fight for what we think we deserve.?

?I have tremendous respect for what women in global sport are doing and achieving. Their bodies are much different to men’s bodies. They have to go through a lot of different things that we don’t have to go through. You know, the hormones and different stuff, we don’t need to go into details.?

So in short, women have it tough enough what with their periods ‘n all, so they should really just let men take the lead, because people really only care about watching men play tennis, and for that reason, they should probably get paid more.
