This week on Pinterest, we’ve been wishing our storage were a little more slender???
There’s something innately bulky about the word ‘storage’. The term itself seems to?bring to mind cumbersome cupboards and distended drawers, overflowing with lapsed and long-forgotten belongings.
As someone who is?excessively conscious of an?inbuilt tendency towards hoarding, I try to avoid the slippery slope of stockpiling – mainly by limiting the amount of storage in my immediate vicinity. But perhaps the issue is more one of quality than quantity.
Proffering?willowy clothes racks and neat, narrow bookshelves aplenty, Pinterest has shown me that?there are trim storage options to be found. These three images provide?ample inspiration in the way of dainty places?to deposit and display prized possessions?
There’s so much right with this simply styled but stunning shot for Australian interiors magazine?Inside Out, included in a piece on how to do minimalist magazine storage. I love the?rounded bed head/hanging rack (far left) and the string magazine holder (far right). The latter is available here from BoConcept?(?64).
A?clean and compact clothes rack like this one via My Unfinished Home?clearly won’t hold much, but would make for a fantastically functional extra storage element. Tailor-made for visualising tomorrow’s outfit, one of these might encourage me to finally cull my clothes’down to a contained capsule wardrobe.
