Interiors Pinspiration: Minimal Yet Cosy Living Spaces

Interiors Pinspiration: Minimal Yet Cosy Living Spaces

This week on Pinterest we’ve been?learning how to make a minimalistic living space feel snug.

We’re in the midst of that awkward transition between summer and autumn at the moment, which makes?temperature-appropriate dressing’difficult (unless you have a light coat that will’serve you nicely for the next two weeks, before becoming completely redundant until late spring). In terms of our homes, it’s almost equally confusing – while it’s too early to go full-on shearling, we can’t help craving a few warmer touches all the same.

I’m a sucker for a cosy living space myself, but I have learned the hard way?how easy it can be to cross the line from intimate?into overkill by introducing one woollen throw too many. This year, I’m feeling more drawn to a minimal style, and, as always, Pinterest has plenty of design?ideas to draw on for an autumnal look with an added touch of class…

The concrete finishes in this stunning family home in Melbourne by Mckimm?could look cold, but the accompanying American oak wall covering gives it a more homey feel. Leaving the stored firewood exposed introduces another element of warmth, while the black wall backdrop keeps it on the sophisticated end of the spectrum. (Pinned from an article on Design Milk.)

Performing an impressive balancing act?between airiness and warmth, the Stone House by Atelier Kastelic Buffey?in Toronto includes a living room that is modern and minimal but still welcoming, thanks to a sumptuously soft cream rug and exceedingly comfortable-looking sofa.

This Hare + Klein living-room design for Cliff Top House, New South Wales, made it into the list of finalists for the Australian Interior Design Awards 2015?in the residential decoration category, and I can see why. The natural materials and tactile textiles perfectly lift the cool colour scheme to create an inviting and liveable space.
