It was only this weekend that we gushed over Sharon Horgan selling another show, this time a horror/ comedy called Shining Vale (following season two of Horgan’s latest series Divorce being aired in the States this week), so it’s with arms wide open that we welcome even more breaking news about this absolute legend.
Amazon Studios has just signed a first-look deal with Horgan and and Clelia Mountford’s UK-based production company, Merman (which includes all remake rights to any future television series that it produces), on top of buying exclusive U.S. rights to all seasons of Sharon Horgan’s Emmy nominated comedy series Catastrophe. Now they’ll get to see every concept she develops before any other studio.
And you know you’re good when that happens.
“Sharon Horgan is one of the sharpest and most engaging actresses, writers, and directors working in television today. We are thrilled she is expanding her collaboration with us at Amazon to create new groundbreaking content,” affirmed Sharon Tal Yguado, Head of Scripted Series, Amazon Studios.
It looks to our mortal eyes like The Shining Vale deal might have lit a fire under Amazon to make sure they get first dibs on all Horgan’s brainwaves to come (of which we’re sure there’ll be many), which just proves that not only is this lady a writing and acting powerhouse, she’s a savvy business woman, too.
Watch this space, people, because Horgan is trailblazing through it at ferocious speed.
