Check Out the Home Offices of Ireland’s Coolest Creatives

Whatever your space and schedule, these home offices are guaranteed to get you dreaming of flexi-time…

A far cry from packed open-plan offices and cramped cubicles, in a home workspace you can allow your creativity to run free. So it’s no wonder so many creative types elect to work from home. Here we’ve gathered some of our favourite workspaces from our tours of Irish artists’ houses.

Home Offices of Ireland's Coolest Creatives - Image Interiors & Living

1. Jane and Myles Lamberth of The Surf Caf?, Strandhill, Co Sligo. Having transformed a dilapidated 1920s cottage on Sligo’s wild and rugged coastline into a modern home?with an industrial feel, Jane and Myles initially located their home office in the living space, but later moved it so as to make it easier to “switch off” during their downtime. I love the simplicity, exposed stone and the encouraging Woop Dee Doo?tea towel, a gift from Myles’ sister.

2. Wendy Crawford, owner of Scout in Temple Bar, and her husband, musician James Byrne. This pair have filled their three-bed Victorian redbrick in Kilmainham with eclectic?accessories, succulents and dark tones, resulting in warm and quirky home with unique character. In their home office, Wendy added the wall-mounted dresser (acquired on Done Deal) to keep the Rachel Powell wallpaper from being too “trippy”. The chair is from Cult Furniture.

3. Doreen Kilfeather, photographer, and her family. Doreen’s Sandymount home is tactile and playful, with a sense of style that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This very heavy German industrial table was a hesitant (but never regretted) buy from Paris, and the almost-matching Singer chair came from a Welsh seller at the Antiques Fair a short jaunt away in the RDS. The lamp is from Industry and the vintage satchel is a Scout find.

4. Writer Erica Van Horn and her partner, the artist and poet Simon Cutts. Having relocated to Ireland almost 20 years ago, American writer Erica has truly made it her home, even publishing a book of extracts from her journal about life in Tipperary, entitled Living Locally. She and her partner operate Coracle, an independent publishing press, from this bright, airy’space in their house.?
