Fizzing and Flat: The IMAGE round-up of what we’re loving and not loving this week

Fizzing and Flat IMAGE weekly picks

The IMAGE Team’s round-up of what’s fizzing and flat this week. What have we been talking about in the office? Expect a high-low mix of world news and…snacks.

What’s fizzing?

We can’t stop watching…

This Way Up on Channel 4. Aisling Bea and Sharon Horgan are amazing together!

We’re eating…

We are low-key obsessed with Aldi’s Salted Pretzel chocolate – we can’t stop and won’t stop. Sweet and savoury lovers, this will be your thing. It’s almost always out of stock so when you see it buy in BULK.

We’re loving…

Monte, a two-year-old rescue dog from Arizona, is headed for Hollywood as Disney cast him in the live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp. Read all about him here.

We’re drinking…

The Lillet Spritz (Lillet w/ tonic, ice and fresh mint). Nice and refreshing and not too boozy.

We’re catching up on…

Lauren here at IMAGE is about two decades late to this but holy moly she is loving The West Wing. Yes it’s ancient, the mobile phones are massive and there is no such thing as Twitter so everyone’s running to a TV to see the latest news – but my god the acting is unbelievable, the dialogue ridiculous and the plot paced perfectly.

We’re watching/reading…

Anything Once Upon a time in Hollywood relatedmainly the fashion, the soundtrack, the make-up.

Sophie Teyssier, our Social Media Manager has also just started The Girls by Emma Cline, so anything of that era has been on our minds this week.

What’s flat?

The current job pool

A lot of my friends are moving abroad and I have ZERO time for this. I thought we had passed this by now in my friend group? Little opportunities in Ireland for creatives? 🙁

Easy, breezy summer boozing

I still love it, but enough already. Time to clear out the fridge.

This up-and-down weather we’re having

Our Homepage Editor’s new (and expensive) umbrella blew inside-out yesterday while walking home and she got DRENCHED. Summer, where you at?

Forest fires

The destruction of the Amazon Rainforest – three weeks in and the rate it’s burning at is terrifying.

Single-use plastics at music events

At the Foo Fighters gig this week, everyone was given a plastic zip-lock bag which was mandatory for security inspection of personal items.

Brexit

Boris telling Merkel that there are plenty of “alternative arrangements” to the Northern Irish backstop (to which Merkel replied, “let’s see ’em”). Welcome to the adult table, Boris.
