A Day In The Life With Interior Designer Suzie Mc Adam

To launch the new Volvo SUV, Suzie Mc Adam takes
us through a typical day in her XC60.

Where are you based?
I live in Sandycove now. I lived in town for a long time, but I’ve always been drawn to the sea, so I was very excited to move here eventually. It’s stunning, driving out of town seeing the light chase along the Forty Foot. I feel lucky to be based here.

There’s lots of beautiful landmarks along the coast in your My Life in Motion video. Where are your favourites?
Coming into Sandycove, past Teddy’s Ice Cream, all those gorgeous Victorian houses on the seafront. I always admire those as I drive by.

Where would most of your clients be located?
It’s such a mix, but mainly Dalkey, Blackrock, Killiney, Ranelagh, Rathgar, Malahide and Howth. As much as I’d love to say I get the DART between meetings, I always carry samples and drawings, so it’s really practical for me to have a spacious car to fit everything into.

What do you listen to in the car?
I’m a huge podcast fan, so if I have a longer journey, I listen to an entrepreneurial podcast. I try to make use of the time.

How important are face-to-face meetings?
There can be a disconnect when there’s lots of emails. I like to touch base now and again, so things aren’t getting lost in emails. I’m a chatty person, and I like to have a conversation in person where possible.

Is dog walking a big part of your day?
I love going up Killiney Hill. I have a Samoyed, so I have to walk him a lot. I love to go to Wicklow and I use the Volvo’s navigation system, as otherwise, I can get a bit lost.

Talk us through the Volvo XC60 interior?
It’s black leather with white stitching, and I love the contrast. It has lots of little details, and that’s something I like in interiors as well.

Volvo XC60 Ireland

What are you working on at the moment?
I am working on Bellinter House, which is one of the really lovely Richard Cassels-designed Georgian buildings in Ireland. After completing the drawing rooms, we are now focused on all the bedrooms, so it’s really nice to see it transformed. It’s lovely to sink your teeth into a big project like that.

Crafted from natural, luxurious materials, the Volvo XC60 is the epitome of modern Scandinavian design. Real wood, genuine metal and beautiful details combine to make every journey an occasion.
