Copenhagen Fashion Week: The best street style on Instagram so far

Copenhagen Fashion Week: The best street style on Instagram so far

Copenhagen Fashion Week is taking place until August 9 and Instagram is a now a treasure trove of inspiring street style outfits. We take a look at the best so far.

On a recent trip to Copenhagen, I discovered a chill in the air.

Now, this isn’t the type of chill that makes you shiver or reach for an extra layer. This is the type of chill one is born with, a certain coolness that is a part of them. I arrived during rush hour on a Monday. It was the calmest and most collected rush hour I had ever experienced. People walked on the street alongside cars with not a care in the world, and for a minute I thought I was in a rural village in Roscommon than in the Danish capital.

And then there was the fashion. You may think Paris or London are chic but Copenhagen is partying on another level. Colours both neutral and bright come together with textures to form a sartorial consciousness that is unique and achingly stylish. Outsiders will never be able to emulate them; we can only ever dream to.

Sustainability

Gloriously, Copenhagen Fashion Week is taking place right now and running until August 9. It showcases some of the most exciting and sought-after labels in the industry with GANNI, Stine Goya and Cecilie Bahnsen just some of the brands unveiling their SS20 collections.

Sustainability is also a priority with a sustainability advisory board established early in 2019 which “initiated a strategic process in cooperation with our knowledge partner In futurum focusing on selected UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” Later this year Copenhagen Fashion Week will launch a three-year plan which will introduce new standards for brands who wish to showcase their collections.

Street Style

The street style is like no other. The fashion pack is out in force and we are being treated to a feast of Scandi fashion. Strappy sandals, oversized blazers, and wondrous dresses in voluminous shapes are the concoctions we never knew we needed and there is inspiration to be found on every Instagram post. Accessories are key, and when you look closely, you realise they use them wisely to elevate each look. Sunglasses are a must, layered jewellery is key and a luxury bag is essential. Pair this with minimal make-up and just-out-of-bed hair and you are set.

Instagram is just the place to scope the style at hand and to brighten your Thursday morning we have trawled through the app to find some of the most exciting and excellent looks so far.
