Following on from the success of their CREATE?initiative, this week sees the launch of CRAFT & DESIGN 2016, a five-week showcase of Irish talent at Brown Thomas…

For a designer, I’d imagine that earning a place on one of Brown Thomas‘?hallowed shelves would be considered something of a coup. Today five fresh Irish makers?will do just that, appearing in the store for the first time as part of CRAFT & DESIGN 2016, a?five-week showcase celebrating Irish craft in the Living department on Brown Thomas’ third floor.

A collaboration with?the Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCoI), the crafty pop-up will?feature the work of some of IMAGE Interiors’ favourite designers and makers.?Laura Magahy‘s simple ceramic pots will be there, as will Whackpack‘s contemporary hand-crafted self-assembly?furniture.

In honour of the 1916 centenary, Slated will present?Blue Bangor slate table runner dated from c. 1916 (exclusive to Brown Thomas), while Caulfield Country Boards have specially created boards based on designs from the early 1900s.

All in all, the showcase will take in?12 new and established designers and makers across an extensive range of home and gifting items that includes prints, ceramics, candles, glass and wooden furniture.

As well as having the opportunity to buy pieces by some of the best Irish design talent, visitors can also avail of a series of??Meet The Maker? events and live demonstrations over the five weeks, giving a peek behind the curtain of their creative process.
