green tea latte
From the headlines you might think Dublin this week is entirely composed of a criss-cross of unused tramline tracks and disgruntled people misunderstanding the purpose of a strike. However, there is more to the city than Twitter complaints. In fact, this past week has seen the Chinese community celebrate the Lunar New Year with a series of events and talks. There have also been a lot of culinary goings-on?and if you haven’t had the chance to indulge in town, you can certainly bring the Chinese NYE home with this recipe for an authentic green tea latte from the?Asia Market on Drury Street.
Ingredients:
? to – teaspoon green tea powder (Matcha)
6 ounces warm milk
Honey or brown sugar to taste
Method:
- Mix two ounces of warm milk with the green tea powder, mixing just enough to create a thick paste.
- Place the paste in the cup, adding the honey or brown sugar, along with remaining milk. Mix well and enjoy!
- If you like, you can sprinkle a little green tea powder or cinnamon on top.
Tips:
A helpful tip when brewing green tea is to retain the flavour while not losing the health benefits. For this, we recommend you use one tea bag for each cup of water, start with cold water, bringing it to a boil. As soon as the water reaches boil point, remove it from the heat source and let it stand for three minutes. Then, add the tea bags and allow them to seep for three to five minutes, or place a tea bag into a serving cup, pouring the boiled water on top. While this might sound elementary, you will enjoy both flavour and health benefits for each green tea latte recipe following these guidelines.
