30th May 2014
Spectacular garden.
Do you go for the pretty flowers, the cool show gardens or the tasty noms? Whatever your reason,?Bloom is back this year and drawing the crowds to Phoenix Park. Featuring no less than 30 showcase?gardens by renowned gardeners, as well as seriously impressive Postcard Gardens by Irish amateurs, it’s sure to inspire you to get your hands dirty.
There will also be tons of foodie events, including demos from?Donal Skehan and?Catherine Fulvio. The Artisan Food Market has more stands than ever, cooking up everything from pig on a spit to elaborate cupcakes and aromatic craft beers. Talking about crafty booze, if you’re after a nice, summery tipple, look no further than a glass of?Stonewell Cider, fresh medalist of the Irish Food Writers Guild 2014.?Take one or two of these and go root for your favourite brie in the Irish Cheese Awards, also taking place at Bloom over the weekend.
There will be crafts galore again this year too, and we look forward to seeing the latest from? The Design Loft and?KaroArt on the day. Irish photo blogger and nature lover ?adaoin Ryan, whose gorgeous blog City of Blackbirds is sure to make you want to explore all our natural beauty, popped into Bloom yesterday for sneak peek and has shared her pics with us, above.
PS – If you can’t make it all the way to Phoenix Park, enjoy?Bloom Fringe, a series of?events including pop-up dinners, picnics, exhibitions, garden installations and workshops taking place at various locations around the city. Our top picks are the?Fab Food Trails tasting tour and visits to a couple of the urban community gardens open to the public for the weekend.
