As America prepares to celebrate Thanksgiving, some of its best’designers have been looking ahead to Christmas,?creating a festive’showhouse in NYC in aid of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation…
Watching Home Alone 2 is the closest I’ll be getting to New York this Christmas, but for anyone lucky enough to be spending it?in the Big Apple, Holiday House NYC is one event you shouldn’t miss.?Founded in 2008?by interior designer?Iris Dankner after she survived breast cancer, Holiday House brings a selection of accomplished designers together every year to give a 1920s?Upper East Side mansion a Christmas?overhaul ?? with each one giving a dedicated?room its own distinct flavour.

D?cor devotees gather in droves to admire the results, and?all proceeds from ticket sales go to breast cancer research. This year’s line-up includes Bjorn Bjornsson,?Campion Platt and Kathleen Walsh, and?before and after pictures from the project?on the 1stdibs blog‘show that each designer relished the opportunity to really let loose in a?bare space without a rigid brief. Designs range from the elegant through to the outrageous.

While the militant minimalist in me can’t help but?love the stripped-down before photos a little bit, there’s no denying that?this show-stopping showhome achieves its mission: to act as an uplifting celebration of?transformative?interior design, festive decorating and life itself.
Holiday House NYC runs from now until December 2, check out their website for more information and (if you’re lucky enough to be New York-bound) tickets. 1stdibs has more behind the scenes before and after pics.
