The August Edit with Siobhan Lam of April and the Bear

The August Edit with Siobhan Lam of April and the Bear

Siobhan Lam launched online homewares and lifestyle store April and the Bear in 2013 and her unique aesthetic has earned her a fast-growing following. Today, the brand has an international presence and a brand-new bricks-and- mortar store on Dublin’s Cow’s Lane. Here, she shares her list of places to go and names to know for the month of August.

EAT
Delahunt on Camden Street is my go-to restaurant – it ticks all boxes. The old-school, moody d?cor complements the delicious cocktails, the staff are so friendly and the menu is top-notch, with excellent veggie options. Oh, and I love their secret, teeny bar upstairs.

STAY
I’ll be in Amsterdam later this month and can’t wait to swing by and visit the Hotel Not Hotel. The idea is that each room, isn’t a room but a work of art, designed by Collaboration-O, a group of young designers that originated from the Eindhoven Design Academy. The interior is incredibly fun-filled and totally unique – and they have a bar called Kevin Bacon because the bar, like the actor, has zero pretension and always delivers! Enough said.

VISIT
I adore the V&A in London, it’s such an inspirational space and they always host the best exhibitions. At the moment they have an exhibition that examines the work and legacy of influential Spanish couturier Crist?bal Balenciaga, with over 100 pieces crafted by the master on display. I couldn’t think of a better way to while away a very stylish Sunday afternoon.

BUY
My husband and I are renovating the upper level of our house at the moment which involves building and fitting a new en-suite and I would LOVE the concrete Sienna Double Basin from Bert & May ?? it is utterly gorgeous and would be so perfect in the space.

DESIGN CRUSH
My favourite designer of the moment is Tory Long, she is an Irish designer with a beautiful, pared-back contemporary style and we’ve just collaborated on an exclusive jewellery collection.
