4 Top picks for the Galway Arts Festival 2015

Galway is already a?pretty artsy city, but when the Galway Arts Festival rolls around the culture vultures are sure to flock in. Running from the 13-26 July and showcasing a host of artistic events from top notch theatre and dance, sky-high art to world class music and cinema, scroll down to see what were looking forward to from this year’s line up?.

1 Skywhale

Yes it is exactly what it says on the tin. A 100 foot long and 70 foot tall whale-shaped hot air balloon will be spotted over the streets of Galway. This magical manifestation answers the question of what would happen if’sea creatures had evolved and took to the sky instead of?land. It was?created by Australian artist Patricia Piccinini and will be making?its maiden flight in Europe. Instagram at the ready?.

2 St Vincent

Topping off the line up for the Festival Big Top is none-other than St. Vincent (aka Annie Erin Clark). Touring her critically acclaimed forth album, Annie will be accompanied by Little Green Cars, one of Ireland’s most successful young bands in recent years.

If there is a cult film that is worth a live performance it is Little Shop of Horrors. The Roger Corman’s classic will be screened with?lip sync and creating live music and sound affects.?Sure to be a fun, wild a wacky evening.

Enda Walsh’s funny and subversive style will definitely give you something to think about. If you are looking for your fix after the success of Ballyturk at last year’s festival, then make your way to A Girl’s Bedroom. Storytelling with a twist, this piece is a theatre instillation in a gallery setting playing every 20 minutes throughout the week.
