Fancy a night of Spanish wine and Irish flair? We’re giving away two tickets to the exclusive Eat Spain, Drink Spain Wine Dinner at Forbes Street by Gareth Mullins this October.

There is a certain magic in Spanish dining. It’s never rushed, never hurried. Plates arrive at the table as conversations stretch into the night, with glasses raised and laughter carried along by the warmth of good company. And this October, Dubliners will have the chance to capture that spirit for themselves when sommelier and co-owner of Phibsboro’s wine shop Fíon Eile, Sinead McCarthy, hosts a one-night-only Eat Spain, Drink Spain Wine Dinner on Thursday, October 16.

For an evening, the Docklands will trade the bustle of the city for the romance of Spain’s vineyards and kitchens. Guests are invited to slow down, savour each course, and enjoy a carefully curated menu that blends Spanish culinary traditions with Ireland’s exceptional local produce. Think of it as a meeting point between two cultures: the vibrancy and passion of Spain, reimagined through the precision and creativity of Irish cooking.

Chef Gareth Mullins, well known for his flair in creating dishes that showcase the best of Irish ingredients, has crafted a menu inspired by the flavours of Spain. Each plate is designed not simply to satisfy, but to transport. One bite may recall the sun-dappled plazas of Andalucía, while another hints at the rustic charm of a Basque farmhouse.

This is not a reproduction of Spanish classics, but a thoughtful interpretation, one that celebrates Ireland’s natural larder while honouring Spain’s culinary identity. It’s dining with a sense of occasion, designed to delight both the palate and the imagination.

Of course, no Spanish evening would be complete without its wines. Spain’s wine culture is as diverse as its landscape, from the crisp Albariños of Galicia’s coastal vineyards to the bold Tempranillos of Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Each region carries with it centuries of tradition, and each bottle tells a story of climate, soil and craftsmanship.

At this dinner, every course will be paired with a wine chosen to enhance, contrast, or elevate the flavours on the plate. For those who already love Spanish wine, it’s a chance to deepen their appreciation. For others, it may be the beginning of a new romance.
