We’ve Been Doing Our Eyebrows All Wrong

We’ve Been Doing Our Eyebrows All Wrong

In our never-ending quest for the perfect shapely eyebrows, it appears changing just one element of our brow routine could help us avoid disaster. When it comes to having to do a DIY job on our brows at home, we probably all go about this a similar way; standing under the brightest lights we can find, tweezers in hand, itching to pluck every last stray hair away.

But, did you know that the lighting in which you go about your DIY plucking can have an immense impact on your results? In short, you may end up with a 90s so-thin-its-not-even-there brow as opposed to your desired Cara D arches. The trick isn’t to tweeze them in bright light, but in really dull light instead. This is according to Refinery29 and brow expert, Sania Vucetaj who confirmed that you should only be using your tweezers in dull light.

?ICYMI: Everybody’s Talking About Eyebrow Extensions

Who knew it was all down to soft lighting? ?The more lighting you have, the more chances you have to tweeze too much and get obsessive,? she said. ?Many of my clients who have homes in suburban areas all have that natural, bright light that comes through the windows and it causes them to tweeze more, resulting in thinner brows,? she explains. Vucetaj advises dimming those bathroom vanities. ?Let your hair follicles breathe, and you’ll see your brows come in fuller.?

If you are planning a tweezing session, try and wait at least three weeks between plucking (we know it’s hard when the tiny hairs are just there staring at you), be careful not to trim too much off and if this happens, an eyebrow pencil is your friend. Plus, we love this super tool for your brows.

Start with turning those lights down low and see how you get on.

Did you know about this lighting tip?
