Serum We Love: Pixi Overnight Glow Serum

Serum We Love: Pixi Overnight Glow Serum

Regardless of your skin type, the benefits of using a serum are tenfold. Our IMAGE.ie Editor and pro beauty expert Ellie Balfe offers this great advice when it comes to serum usage, and it hits the nail on the head:

“The one product that I tell everyone to add to their regime is a decent serum. If you are not using one right now – sort it. It is the one thing that can super-charge your skin condition and they also future-proof your skin by nourishing and protecting at a deep level. You may not see dramatic results in your twenties or early thirties, but cross that thirty-five divide and suddenly everything is different. If you’ve been caring for your skin prior to that, you’ll reap the rewards. If not, well?there’s still time, but get on it! Remember too, that serums are an extra step – they don’t replace moisturiser – the two combined offer a double pronged approach to improving your skin.”

I’m jumping on the serum bandwagon considerably late, and as a first-time user, the Pixi Overnight Glow Serum (?35) is what has literally transformed my skin over the last number of months.

I’m a newbie to the Pixi products, but I’d heard great things about the brand and their skincare range; products are designed to target fine lines and wrinkles and rejuvenate the skin. In the case of the serum, it works while you sleep to exfoliate the skin (so less harsh than exfoliating every day) and fade dark spots and acne scars. I noticed visible results almost immediately and this is because it’s formulated with 10% glycolic acid. Glycolic acid penetrates into the dermal (inner) layers of the skin.

This unique property makes it a suitable ingredient for treating a multiple of skin concerns including acne and anti-ageing. It’s basically an anti-inflammatory?and used in small amounts; it works wonders for regenerating the skin. Don’t be put off by the percentage of the glycolic acid as it works in tandem?with cucumber and aloe vera extracts to calm skin and contains vitamins A, C and E to nourish. My skin would be hyper-sensitive and the serum didn’t cause me to flare in any way even with the 10% – bear in mind that it’s not concentrated so it isn’t going to be as harsh – and I’ve been using it nightly for the past few months and the difference is enormous. My pores are smaller; my acne marks have faded and each morning my skin feels soft, supple and glows. ?If the?glycolic acid makes you nervous, first test the product before applying it all over the face and then use it only once or twice a week if you feel nightly would be too much.

The consistency feels thick but it instantly absorbs into the skin. If yours is on the dry side, it will give it a refreshing boost and if it’s oily, you won’t break out so it’s suitable for all skin types.

This one is perfect if you want to introduce a serum to your beauty routine and are aiming for radiant skin.

It’s €35 and available at Marks and Spencers now.
