Last week some of Ireland’s finest makers and creators gathered to celebrate the 2018 Image Interiors & Living Design Awards sponsored by Messe Frankfurt and Kilkenny Shop. With a shortlist of 40 nominees, people came from across the country to toast the winners across ten categories including Interiors Instagrammer of the Year, Best independent Interiors Shop, Best Tableware and Best Collaboration.

The shortlist was narrowed down by our expert judging panel, made up of lighting artist Niamh Barry; owner of Article shop John Adams; head of design at NCAD Alex Milton; Karen Hennessy, CEO of Design & Crafts Council of Ireland; art and design journalist Gemma Tipton and our own Image Interiors & Living editor Amanda Kavanagh.

The sold-out event welcomed guests to Fade Street Social with a bubbly reception and plenty of creative chats before being ushered into the dining area where a gift bag made up of handmade Arran Street East pottery and exclusive leather keyrings created by Garvan de Bruir awaited them. Crate Flowers made a little posie for each person and soon host and architect Declan O’Donnell began proceedings. Afterwards, it was back upstairs for some Gunpowder gin and tonics.

Says Amanda Kavanagh, editor at Image Interiors & Living, “Compiling the shortlist this year was a huge challenge and deciding the winners was even more difficult. It took a lot of deliberation to arrive at the final ten, as each nominee has gone above and beyond to innovate and create in Irish design. We are incredibly proud to champion each and every one.”
