Looking for something different for your kids’ birthday party? This mobile petting farm will appeal to everyone from toddlers to grandparents

For something that involves the whole family, and gives an experience that you’ll treasure, look no further.

If you have a children’s birthday party coming up, it can be so difficult to know what to organise. Keeping a bunch of kids entertained is no mean feat, and they’re not afraid to let you know when they’re not having a good time.

Whatever activity you have in mind also usually isn’t what the adults at the party would think of as “fun”. However, if you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary, Wooly Farm is a mobile petting farm that can bring the fun of the farm to your home.

Based in Moneygall, Co Tipperary, it’s run by a family who have seen first hand how much enjoyment children get from meeting animals. They will bring a selection of friendly creatures for everyone to meet, who are looked after with the utmost care.

Animals such as chicks, ducks, a miniature pig, goats, sheep, rabbits and guinea pigs will be the stars of your party. You can even choose to add a Shetland pony.

Each is set up in its own enclosure, and everyone is given the opportunity to touch, and in some cases hold each animal, while many have a “party trick” that will get everyone laughing and joining in. From ducks that can give a high-five, to kisses from pigs, there’s plenty of memorable moments.

The interactive element is one of the reasons why people love this experience so much. Everyone from toddlers to grandparents enjoys holding a bunny, or brushing a sheep’s coat.

The Wooly Farm staff are also engaging and incredibly knowledgeable: entertaining and educating in equal measure. The experience lasts around one to one-and-a-half hours, and they are skilled at keeping everyone’s attention for this time.

Logistically, you need a little outdoor space for the team to set up all the animals, and give everyone space to enjoy them, but apart from that, it really is an incredibly versatile experience that people of all ages will enjoy. The team brings everything they need, including stools and benches for little ones to sit on when looking at the animals, hand sanitiser and towels for the children’s laps to keep them clean.

All you have to do is get the camera ready to capture all the special moments.

And if you’re planning a different kind of event, Wooly Farm don’t just do birthday parties. They can visit nursing homes, preschools, schools, universities, intellectual disability centres, summer camps and family fundays at both community and corporate events.
