Gardaí investigating after body of man found in suspicious circumstances in Dublin home
Gardaí are investigating after a man’s body was found in suspicious circumstances at a home in Dublin 8. The man, who was in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene after gardaí arrived at the residence on Herberton Park road yesterday afternoon. A Garda spokesperson said that gardaí are investigating the circumstances of the man’s death. It’s understood the death is being treated as suspicious.

Siún Ní Raghallaigh warned she could resign before a crucial appearance by Minister for Media Catherine Martin on RTÉ Prime Time last week, according to the Minister, and resisted attempts to arrange a meeting to discuss Ms Martin’s disappointment in her. During a meeting of the Oireachtas media committee, Ms Martin revealed a day of frantic exchanges between her officials and former RTÉ chair Ms Ní Raghallaigh in the run-in to the Minister’s appearance on Prime Time last Thursday evening, after which the chair resigned.

Enoch Burke has been paid €72,000 for teaching role since his suspension 18 months ago
Sacked schoolteacher Enoch Burke has been paid around €72,000 by the Department of Education since being suspended in August 2022. The High Court has heard Burke is still on administrative leave and being paid, despite not working for the past year and a half, during which time he has spent 281 days in prison for contempt of court. He is still in receipt of his salary while appealing against the decision by the board of management of Wilson’s Hospital School to dismiss him in January last year.

Irish citizen held in Iraq ‘beaten, blindfolded’ – wife
An Irish anti-corruption advocate who is being detained in Iraq has been “beaten, blindfolded” and robbed, according to his wife. Laura Wickham has called on the Irish Government to do everything in its power to ensure her husband Yasser Eljuboori comes home to Ireland as soon as possible. Mr Eljuboori, who was born in Iraq, was detained on Monday at Baghdad airport while attempting to return to Ireland. Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Ms Wickham said her husband, who was in Iraq to visit his mother, has been denied permission to leave and return to his family in Ireland.

More than a third of Irish people believe natural occurrences contribute to climate change
Almost 40% of people wrongly believe climate change is jointly caused by people and natural occurrences, despite overwhelming scientific consensus it is down to human activity. Large numbers of Irish people overestimate the impact their own actions are having on the climate, while support for policies such as higher taxes on petrol or diesel cars and bans on peat, coal and oil for home heating has fallen, an in-depth new survey on Ireland’s attitude to climate issues has found.

Bag containing security plans for Paris Olympics stolen from French train
A bag containing a computer and two USB memory sticks holding police security plans for the Paris Olympic Games has been stolen from a train at the capital’s Gare du Nord station. The bag belonged to an engineer from Paris city hall, the police said late on Tuesday, confirming a report by BFM television, adding that he had put the bag in the luggage compartment above his seat. As his train was delayed, he decided to change trains at which point he discovered the theft.
