Boots Night Walk raises vital funds for Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing Service

Broadcaster Maia Dunphy led the inspiring Boots Night Walk earlier this week, shining a light on vital support for the Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing Service.

Dublin’s Phoenix Park was transformed into a scene of reflection, solidarity and hope last Tuesday as hundreds gathered for the annual Boots Night Walk, a cornerstone event supporting the Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing Service.

Leading the charge was broadcaster and dedicated ambassador Maia Dunphy, who, accompanied by her son Tom, highlighted the profound impact of the Night Nursing Service. This invaluable service provides compassionate end-of-life care, enabling cancer patients to spend their final nights in the comfort of their own homes while offering crucial support and respite to families and loved ones.

Irish Cancer Society CEO Averil Power spoke movingly about the extraordinary and sustained support Boots has provided over the years, praising the partnership for its unwavering commitment to cancer care. As the sun set over the iconic Papal Cross, Stephen Watkins, Managing Director of Boots, led the enthusiastic crowd, setting the tone for an evening of connection, remembrance, and hope.

The Dublin Gospel Choir added a moving soundtrack to the event, their harmonies creating an atmosphere of inspiration and reflection. Participants shared warm teas and coffees, forging bonds before embarking on the 3.5km Night Walk. The night offered a deeply touching experience, a coming together to honour the resilience of cancer survivors and to remember with love those lost to the disease.

Boots’ commitment to the Irish Cancer Society began in 2012 and has since raised over €4 million, directly funding more than 10,350 nights of essential care for families across Ireland.

The opportunity to support this life-changing cause remains open and donations can be made online at bootsnightwalk.com until September 29, or in any Boots store.
