Chunky knits, patterned tights, boots, scarves and handbags — we’re relishing the return of autumnal dressing at IMAGE HQ. Here’s what the staffers have in their baskets.

Autumn is my favourite time of year for getting dressed, and I love digging out my warmer layers. I can’t wait for the morning when it’s cold enough to wear my Magee 1866 coat (similar to this one, but in grey), it makes you look put-together, but feels like wearing a blanket. I also have a pair of Russell & Bromley boots in this kind of moccasin shape that I’m looking forward to wearing again.
I feel like I’m missing a chunky jumper, so that might have to be my investment for this season. Candidates include this cashmere crew neck from COS, which I’ve seen recommended online so many times, or a dreamy green option from Babaa.

Like all of us, I have a very long autumn lust list but there’s one item in particular that has caught my eye. The Thais Waxed Jacket from Barbour’s collaboration with Farm Rio might be one of the most perfect creations I’ve ever laid eyes on. The colour, the shape, the style and the bow on the back is just… chef’s kiss. I already have my whole autumn wardrobe planned around it. I fear it is a need, not just a want!

I have been yearning for autumn all summer, and I am so very happy to return to my three-piece uniform of an A-line skirt, fun tights and a pair of boots. I’ve been having fun with 30 denier brown tights lately, because I heard through the grapevine that that’s what Rachel Green wore in seasons one through three of Friends, but these Check Tights from Swedish Stockings are my next purchase.
I recently tried on the Amari Velvet Midi Dress at RIXO in Kildare Village, and I have not stopped thinking about it. It’s demurely sexy, very Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and is so soft and comfortable and flattering that I’ve just now convinced myself to go back and buy it.
Honourable mention also goes to the Triskele Appliqué Long Sleeve from Pellador’s new drop, a pair of navy jeans from the Uniqlo X JW Anderson collaboration, and the Kenova Shoes from Vagabond. All beautifully made, quality investment pieces that I see myself wearing to absolute death.

I bought a pair of Blundstones for a winter trip to Canada a few years ago and they have stood the test of time. Whether it’s hiking in the snow, which I originally bought them for, walking in the rain, or general day-to-day wear, they are the boots I turn to once the temperature drops. They’re super comfy as well as being waterproof, which is exactly what is needed in the winter months.
As an expectant mother-to-be who point-blank refuses to use an umbrella, a jacket with a hood is an essential. I’ve got my eye on one of these Rains Jackets so I have no excuse not to get out and about once the baby arrives. I always thought that I was too short to wear a long jacket but I’m discovering that’s not always the case, so I am putting this long jacket on the wishlist for protection from the wind and rain.
Having spent the past year chasing summers while travelling Australia to a gorgeous summer back home in Ireland, I am truly ready for the cosy season and all the knits and that come with it. My autumn/winter wardrobe is quite grey/black, so I’m trying to embrace as much colour as possible – because we could all do with more colour in our lives. I was initially drawn to the light grey version of this Arket jumper, but I’m leaning towards a pop of blue with a bright red lip instead!
I’m trying to invest in pieces that I know I will wear time and time again, and this Massimo Dutti cardigan is the perfect example of something that can be worn dressed up or dressed down. I do love layering in autumn/winter, but sometimes, having a go-to item that you can just throw on with a pair of jeans or a skirt, and still feel put-together, is a necessity.

Few items anchor a transitional wardrobe quite like a barn jacket. After rising to prominence last autumn, led by labels such as Prada, The Frankie Shop, and The Row, they’ve remained a staple through spring and into the current season. I recently picked up this denim version from DOEN, and it’s become my go-to layering piece over knits. The brown corduroy collar adds a subtle contrast and ties in beautifully with the earthy tones of autumn.
Stripes are making a strong return this season, but with a fresh update. Think bold, high-contrast colours that make a statement. I splurged on this Cashmere Boyfriend Sweater from Reformation (I’m all about quality over quantity), and it’s the perfect vibrant piece to style with vintage denim. I know I’ll be reaching for it season after season!
The secret to any solid autumn capsule wardrobe? A killer pair of jeans, and nobody’s doing it better right now than Parke. If you’re not familiar with the brand, it’s time to get acquainted. Their new Adjustable Jeans come with custom hardware at the waistband, so that you can wear them low-slung on the hips or cinch them up for a high-rise vibe. Basically, it’s two pairs of jeans in one, which makes them perfect for autumn layering. I went with the Medium Wash: They’re versatile, timeless, and feel like it was made for the season.
A comfy yet chic shoe is a non-negotiable in my autumn wardrobe. This year, I’ve swapped out my UGGs for the Birkenstock shearling clogs, and I’m not looking back. Part slipper, part chunky loafer, they’re lightweight, easy to slip on, and stylish enough to wear just about anywhere. The shearling lining adds that extra bit of warmth, making them perfect for the in-between season.

Okay I’m not going to lie, I am not a fan of when the evenings get darker and summer comes to an end. But what I am a fan of is autumn styling! Think fun ways to style cosy knits, introducing autumn browns and burgundies and lots of fun accessories.
My dream purchase for this season, and for a while now, is this rugby top from Kindred of Ireland. I love Never Fully Dressed for fun, colourful knits, and I have been eyeing up this Poppy Cardigan for the longest time now. Bringing in some autumnal colours, I also have notifications on for their burgundy version of the famous Poppy dress!
I also got this beautiful red Aran knit from IrelandsEye, I adore the big sleeves. I sized up for more volume, but they do come true to size. Oh, and I just spotted these burgundy Salomon sneakers, the perfect autumn pair!

I can’t get enough of my two recent wardrobe additions. The first is the Clover Cropped Aran Cardigan Orange Marl from IrelandsEye. I have been living in it recently and think it is the perfect shade for autumn. I also bought a pair of Remi Jeans from Beyond Nine. I love the popular barrel cut at the moment, and these jeans are subtle enough that I know they will be a timeless pair. Have a real urge to pair them with some cowboy boots, which brings me to my wishlist…
There is a tab perpetually open on my laptop with the ALOHAS Liberty Black Leather Boots. I have actually had these on my list for a few autumns in a row, but this is the year I must have them. Finally, Eden May Studios have released a sneak peek of their A/W Collection. I am in love with these hand-painted silk scarves and think they would elevate any outfit.

This is my favourite time of the year and I absolutely love layering up. If you are looking for some epic autumnal inspiration to add to your workwear wardrobe, you should check out our latest reel with Sinead Keenan.
For this A/W I have my eye on some cosy knitwear from IrelandsEye, these guys have an incredible range and have just launched their Ember Collection and you can guess that I want everything, I have my eye on this and this.
I’d love to purchase some new key pieces of jewellery. I absolutely love wearing my Ciara Egan earrings that were gifted from my boyfriend. I love this ring in her collection. I’d love to invest in some amazing pieces from @Tabidsgn on Instagram. All of these silver pieces can be mixed and matched and layered on top of one another and I am so into it. I want to try to layer my jewellery this autumn.
I got this stunning bag from Marmala, so you will be seeing me in this every office day! I also love wearing and investing in a chunky boot or knee-high. I love this pair from Miista, and also adore the stitching on this pair too.

We’re coming into my favourite time of the year, which means I get to dig out my chunky knits, cocoon-worthy jumpers, and plush maxi skirts from the storage bin. This season, I’m opting for comfortable textures and feel-good hues to brighten my wardrobe on dark days.
