The Irish fashion set on their dream buys for winter
The insider intel on what Ireland’s most stylish women want to buy this winter
Dressing for winter looks a little different this year, so we asked some of Ireland’s most fashionable women to guide us through their winter wish lists.
They’re lusting after high street heroes, Irish design and sustainable pieces and a there’s a whole lot of interest in fashion that definitely doesn’t fit into the labels of ‘comfort’ or ‘working from home’.
Keep scrolling to see what some of Ireland’s best dressed have on their personal shopping lists for this winter.
Vetements Boomerang Flame-Print Leather Ankle Boots, €1,390
I’ll have these, please! I know very well I should be buying Irish and something practical and yadda ya ya… yawn. Really all I want are these Boomerang boots by Vetements which will burn a hole in my bank account no doubt. I feel if I had these on my feet, my life would be better! That’s the effect fashion has on me. I’ve written my Insta caption in my head a hundred times for when they are finally on my feet and yes the fire emoji is used. Now, if you don’t mind, I’ve gotta go and hustle for some major money-making malarkey that’ll pay for these bad boys!
Kindred of Ireland Cloud Coat, €556
This year I am lusting after Irish brand Kindred of Ireland’s statement and oversized Cloud coat. It’s a stunning quilted coat created with Irish Beetled linen. All their designs are made to order so it’s encouraging slow fashion and supporting a small Irish brand. Stylish and sustainable at the same time.
Kurt Geiger London Kensington Crossbody Bag, €215
This Kurt Geiger Kensington crossbody bag is certainly on my Christmas list and it’s the perfect winter staple accessory. Whether you want to dress it down with leather pants and trainers or a glam winter coat and boots you always look put together and you can never go wrong with black!
My dream winter fashion must-have this year are the Valentino Garavani VLogo ankle boots. This season, chunky boots are having a big moment. I love how they look on other people but I personally prefer something a little more subtle for my style, so this is the perfect pair for me! Trendy but still quite classic. I really love the gold detail too and I think they are a staple I will have for years to come.
Sleeper Black Tie Feather-Trimmed Pyjama Set, €296
Unlike previous seasons, where our outfits were centred around going out out, this season, for obvious reasons, it’s all about staying in in. To make it all that much more bearable and stylish, I think it’s about time I took the plunge and invested in a pair of boujie PJs. Naturally, top of my wishlist is the Sleeper party PJs with feather trim, but they are more than just PJs; I love getting my CPW, cost per wear, out of pieces and re-wearing them as much as possible. The Sleeper PJs can be separated, with the top worn with straight leg jeans or the trousers worn with a sleek blazer and knit. Speaking of knits, I’m also on the lookout for a gorgeous knit to cosy up at home in, and on a buying Irish trip, which I think is so important this season too. I love Colin Burke’s oversized sleeve hand-crocheted sweaters that are ideal for all those Zoom calls we’ll be at for the next few weeks.
Topshop Cream Oversized Borg Longline Coat, €110
I am obsessing over Borg and faux shearling longline coats for this season. I feel this one from Topshop wouldn’t break the bank but still looks very high end. I can see myself wearing it to go on walks with the family on those chilly days, keeping my baby bump/post-baby body and legs cosy and warm from being a larger fit too. I am petite, so most longline coats cover my legs as far as my ankles!
Louis Vuitton Wonderland Flat Ranger Boots, €1,150
My absolute wishlist would be this pair of Louis Vuitton biker boots from Brown Thomas. They’re a classic biker boot style made from Italian leather so you know they would last you forever, whilst working with so many pieces in your wardrobe time and time again. This year I’ve definitely been looking at practical comfort. A cosy but chic puffer coat is always a brilliant winter must-have on a fashion list, especially this one from River Island. River Island and Violeta by Mango (their curve line) are two of my go-to brands for these kinds of styles as they have a broad size range without compromising on style and a really reasonable price point too.
