All the retro sunglasses I have my eye on

All the retro sunglasses I have my eye on

The ‘tiny sunglasses’ moment has peaked. Luckily, this retro sunglasses trend is here to take over.

For every fashion flash-in-the-pan, there’s the antithesis. As minuscule, 1990s-esque sunglasses threatened to dominate forever, people have begun to hark back to the 1970s for inspiration.

To replace those Matrix-style mini shades, chunky acetate frames in tortoiseshell and black are coming to the forefront.

Not only is the perennial Aviator basking in the spotlight once again, so too are thick, square styles and tinted lenses: giving off retro ‘Charlies Angels’ vibes quicker than you can say UV protection.

It’s good news for thrifty shoppers: consignment stores, not to mention eBay, are generally flush with this form of throwback accessory. When searching online, keep your eyes peeled for second-hand offerings from Tom Ford, Gucci, Prada, Tod’s and Pucci – all brands who have had a long-standing love affair with seventies-style sunnies.

In the meantime, shop these 11 styles right now:
