Everyone’s favourite male model is now designing underwear for Marks & Spencer?

The term ?international male supermodel? can only really elicit one response: David Gandy. Earlier this month we blushed our way through his music video with Jennifer Lopez, and now he’s pulling a David Beckham. That is designing underwear. It’s what all the handsome men are doing now and we can’t think of a more appropriate career shake-up for the best in the business.

After years of modelling on the catwalks of Paris and draping himself across stunning Italian backdrops for Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue advertising campaigns, Gandy is bringing his accumulated expertise to Marks & Spencer this autumn to create an exclusive underwear range for the company. Gandy is already the face of the brand’s Collection Menswear so this new frontier is more of an evolution. Gandy will design, and model, the underwear and sleepwear collection, which will comprise 28 pieces. ?I have to be honest – from sketching designs, choosing the fabrics, adding personal touches and even down to the packaging, I’ve been really involved and thoroughly enjoyed it,”?he said about the work.

?David Gandy for Autograph? launches in London September 18th and arrives on these shores Friday September 19th. With Marks & Spencer selling more than 14 million singles of men’s underwear a year already, expect that number to rise as Gandy brings his handsome self to all the advertisements. Perhaps Gandy and Marks & Spencer’s resident lingerie doyenne, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, will come together for a Valentine’s Day collection in 2015? In the meantime, enjoy some Gandy, including some of his Instagrams, in the gallery above?
