Why I’m Obsessing Over Faux Fur

Why I’m Obsessing Over Faux Fur

I recently interviewed Hannah Weiland of cult London label Shrimps (read the interview in the November issue of IMAGE, on shelves 26 October). Subsequently I popped into Havana Boutique in Donnybrook and tried on one of Weiland’s super cosy faux fur jackets and I immediately understood why celebrities from Alexa Chung to Laura Bailey are falling over themselves for faux fur right now. Besides looking cool in an oversized Olsen twins type of way, it feels just like a giant bear hug… what’s not to like?!

At circa €700, a Shrimps faux fur coat is out of my, and many women’s, price ranges, but there’s plenty of good-quality, gorgeous looking faux fur pieces on the high street right now. Here are?four of my favourites.

This burgundy faux fur coat is top of my wish list. I love the richness of this merlot shade, and the two-tone effect, which makes it look far more expensive than it is.

Burgundy coat, €79.95 at Mango

This is a stunning piece that has tonnes of texture to it. I love the oversized longer-length cuffs and the exaggerated shoulder detailing. This is a really high-fashion piece at a great price.

Colour block coat, Story of Lola, €210 at Topshop.com

Again, I love the contrasting colours of this jacket, and the fact that it’s so autumnal looking. This will pair beautifully with neutrals, as seen here, or with vibrant hues.

Jacket, €69.95 at Zara

A more understated option, this black faux fur coat brings subtle texture to an outfit. I like how it’s?worn with a floaty chiffon dress here. It makes an elegant contrast.

Coat, €99.99 at H&M
