Alexander Wang’s collection for H&M is a month away from landing in stores and we can’t help the excitement feels building inside us. The sneak peeks offered so far via Instagram and look book snaps are the definition of urban cool with big coats and leggings having a moment. Also, those beanies. Normally we’re not big branding fans but when it comes to Wang we embrace the brag. There may even be some thoughts about calling in sick November 6th so as to secure us some of the goods when they hit the rails.
Last spring the designer announced the collaboration at a Coachella party soundtracked by Iggy Azalea ?told you he was undisputedly cool. Also, Robert Pattinson and Haim were in attendance. Rihanna was the first big name to be seen wearing the upcoming collection last month. Think crop tops and leggings that look comfortable cool – the ultimate in sexy androgynous loungewear.
After collaborations with Marni, Stella McCartney, and Lanvin having been critically praised, it makes sense for Swedish fashion giant to work with someone as popular as the Tawainese-American designer. Wang is also the first American to team up with H&M. Although he’s well used to breaking the mould – Wang launched his own label only two years onto his fashion course at Parsons and he’s been the recipient of awards every since his collection debuted in 2007.
The Alexander Wang for H&M collection will be available in selected H&M shops and online 6 November. Image will be hosting a special readers’ event instore the night before- keep an eye out for details in the November issue. ?hm.com
