You need to stand out from the crowd at the Galway Races. IMAGE Fashion Director Marie Kelly suggests 5 modern looks perfect for Ballybrit, Galway.

This gorgeous black mini dress will take you anywhere during any season. I love the slightly Victoriana feel of the neckline; it balances the short skirt beautifully.

Shoulders are a big focus point for AW19, so this dress will take you seamlessly through Christmas. For the races, pair it with metallic sandals, a clutch bag and a fuchsia pink lip.

Pull your hair back into a sleek ponytail for a thoroughly contemporary look.

A jumpsuit is a sophisticated alternative to a dress, and again, this is a piece that will work for any number of occasions, from the races to a work dinner (simply throw a blazer over it for a more business-like look). Navy is a great alternative to black as it’s more flattering to pale skin tones.

It can be paired with subdued neutrals or given depth with something stronger like neon or tangerine.

Stripes are an easy, and sometimes more modern, way of incorporating pattern into your outfit. This gorgeous Michael Kors dress has a pleated skirt that reveals black and white stripes beneath when you walk.

You’ll feel and look fabulous every time you move.

This dress from uterque.com is simply divine. You’ve got to be careful when you wear white that you don’t wind up looking like a bride, so be sure to accessorise this piece with statement jewellery rather than fine. I love the model’s bold lip, and whatever you do, stay away from an updo or it really will look like it’s your big day.
