How To Get Dakota Johnson’s Oscars Hair

How To Get Dakota Johnson’s Oscars Hair

If there is one thing we can all agree on from last night it is that Dakota Johnson walked away with the unofficial title of best dressed. Have a colleague whose moods are the bane of your Mondays? Bring up Dakota’s ensemble and see their eyes momentarily light up. Her red Saint Laurent dress – that thigh-high slit, that bejeweled strap – will go down in Oscars history for some helluva appearance.

The 25-year-old may have worn a showstopper of a gown, but she kept her hair simple. Letting those divisive bangs, we love them, speak for themselves. (When in doubt, finish off with a red pout.)

The right bangs are a hair style all on their own. #bangs #fringe #DakotaJohnson

Hairstylist Mark Townsend, who has been collaborating with Dakota on her Fifty Shades press tour, created a simple ponytail using hair products from Dove and Sally Hershberger spray. He shared all the details on Instagram – follow him immediately for even more adventures in celebrity beauty.

“Dakota’s pony:?@dove Silk Creme in damp hair and blow dry. Dove Dry Shampoo all over for texture and volume. Gather hair into pony and secure with elastic. Wrap a small section of hair from the pony around the base to hide the elastic and secure with bobby pin. Spray pony with?@sallyhershberger #GlamWaves?for more texture and finish with?#Dove?Extra Hold Hairspray.?#PerfectPony”

However, yesterday wasn’t Dakota’s first time at the Oscars rodeo. E! published some archival footage of a younger Dakota at the Academy Awards with her mother, Melanie Griffith, in 2000. Turns out Joan Rivers did not showcase her trademark snark when interviewing an adorable child.

This year things were a little bit awkward with Dakota and Melanie acting like a typical mom and daughter. Let’s just say there is a little bit of tension as Melanie dithers over whether or not she’ll go see her daughter in record-breaking erotic romance Fifty Shades of Grey.
