Four nourishing hair masks to help bring your hair back to life

It’s nearly time for the IMAGE Business of Beauty Awards 2019. On March 10, the best of the beauty world will make their way to The Clayton, Burlington Road,  for the biggest night on the beauty calendar. Take a look at the shortlist, and then cast your votes and buy your tickets here.

Happy Sunday! Hope you spend it relaxing and rejuvenating and while you’re doing that, add in a hair mask. Because bingeing through a Netflix series with a hair mask on is good for the soul.

Choose one that addresses a hair concern of yours, be that damaged hair, hair that’s suffocating with product build-up, dry and broken hair that needs intensive care or thirsty, colour treated hair.

Here’s four to try out this week.

Olaplex

Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3, €36

Nourish

If you colour your hair, you’ve already heard about the magical powers of Olaplex, an in-salon treatment that helps repair chemical damage, and prevents damage during colour services. It is a revolutionary miracle. If your hair is severely damaged, they also offer the home application Olaplex No.3. Made with an active ingredient – bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate- it repairs hair’s broken bonds, so do it once a week for healthy hair. Apply to towel-dried hair, and leave for a minimum of 10 minutes, 20 if your hair is very damaged, but the longer it’s on, the more effective, so leave it as long as you like. I sleep with it in my hair once a week. It’s not a leave-in treatment though, so wash it out for immediate shine, ongoing strength, visible silkiness and long-term benefits.

Alfaparf Semi Di Lino Reconstruction Reparative Mask, €17.50

Detox

The Semí Dí Lino range from Alfaparf Milano recently added a three-part in-salon treatment to detoxify the hair from pollution and free radicals with a haircare treatment of your choice and a glossy boost. The product ranges now also contain a shine fix for dull hair, a colour fix to help colour longevity, and ‘Urban Defence Pro’ which provides protection from pollutants in the hair, like smog, fine dust, exhaust fumes, cigarette smoke. All these external toxins cause dullness,  breakage, and yellowing and deteriorate the hair proteins and lipids. The reconstruction products are great for damaged, brittle hair and the Reconstruction Reparative Mask, €17.50, will leave your hair soft and shiny, but it’s also incredibly hardworking, strengthening and restructuring weak hair. I had violet pigments added to mine when I got it in a salon, to clean up and brighten my blonde when it starts to look a little grubby.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Colour Deep Treatment, €5.99

Colour Treated

For shinier, healthier, bouncier hair in just three minutes, Aussie’s super-nourishing 3-minute miracle products come in seven different formulations for hydration, frizz minimizing, nourishing, reconstructing, breakage, dull hair and colour-treated hair.  The Colour Treatment helps to transform lacklustre colour. Made with hydrating Australian Wild Peach extract, leave in for 3 minutes only and rinse out.

Pureology Hydrate Superfood Treatment, €31, available at Peter Mark

Hydrate

For dry, undernourished hair, this mask is full of natural ingredients, with a blend of avocado oil for moisture and coconut oil for intense hydration.  Though it penetrates deeply, it doesn’t weigh the hair down or leave any residue. Apply the mask and deep breathe in the incredible aromatherapy fragrance.
