Five Must-Have Matte Lipsticks For Autumn

Five Must-Have Matte Lipsticks For Autumn

Once the new season starts, I love a matte lipstick. It makes a statement and elevates your autumnal threads (just remember to think about texture when wearing one). So why not toss the gloss and opt for a shade of lipstick that wows; no lipstick does that better than a matte. The shade of the season will be made up of dark, mysterious berry tones but you can opt for reds and pinks as well. Think precision, clean lines and minimal makeup if you’re going for the optimum striking affect. Below are five of my current favourite mattes, all perfect for this season:

NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Tonkin (?26)

These long-wear NARS lipsticks are bright and bold but completely matte and perfect for crafting a statement lip. There are 14 shades to choose from starting with pale nude to deep purple. The petite tube?is a nifty bonus point as it’s perfect for throwing in the tiniest of bags. In terms of matte formulas, this is on the dryer side so be sure to exfoliate your lips prior to application so it doesn’t sink into any creases.

Clinique’s Pop Liquid Matte Lipstick in Sweetheart Pop (?20)

Not quite as pigmented as the above choice, but what makes this one stand out is the addition of the primer; goodbye dry lips. This is a softer berry and it works for both day and night but if you want to soften the colour for day, add a teeny amount of lip balm before application, the shade will stay put but it won’t look as severe.

MAC Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo (?20)

Perhaps the most famous red lipstick of them all, MAC’s much-loved Ruby Woo is extra matte, extra red and lasts the whole night long.

Tom Ford Matte Lip Colour (?49)

No matter which colour, you can’t go wrong with a lipstick by Tom Ford. Yes, it’s pricey for a lipstick, but this matte formula is second-to-none. The coverage is rich and creamy?and goes on with a velvet finish. You’re wearing a matte that won’t budge, but lips still look smooth and soft.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Moss (?6.99)

This budget buy has earned acclaim for its rich reds and pale nudes, with any new shade launch selling out in minutes. In terms of a budget-matte, it doesn’t get better than this range. It doesn’t quite have the pigment of its pricier counterparts, but all colours in the range are long lasting and under €10, which makes us very happy.
