The best of beauty from the SS20 Couture shows in Paris

The best of beauty from the SS20 Couture shows in Paris

Dior’s Grecian easy eyeliner is our new go-to.

Couture week may not give you much practical inspiration, sartorially speaking, but there’s always a beauty trend or two that will make you want to ditch your trusty smoky brown eyeshadow. It’s rarely the place to make-up inspiration if you’re fond of the less-is-more approach, but if you’re ready to kick your beauty look up a notch, look to Iris Van Herpen’s inner eye holographic highlighter (even if you don’t want to take it into your hairline), Lucia Pica’s tea-stained eyes at Chanel and Ralph&Russo’s oversized hair accessories.

Below, the best beauty trends from the Spring 2020 Couture shows.

Schiaparelli

Euphoria-inspired delicate diamond eyeshadow details are over – pair your glowing skin with full jewels as seen as Schiaparelli by make-up artist Erin Parsons.

Iris Van Herpen

Adding a touch of highlighter to the inner eye brightens your eyes up, but at Iris Van Herpen, inner-eye holographic outer space highlighter by make-up artist Chiao Li Hsu travelled right into the hairline.

Christian Dior

The best thing about Dior’s Grecian-look (gilded gold details and fat braids galore) was the tiny graphic eyeliner details created by Peter Philips; completely wearable and more importantly, absolutely simple to do.

Ralph&Russo

If you take only two things away from the Couture beauty looks, let it be this: yes you can wear pink eyeliner. No, you won’t look like you have pink eye. Wear it in tiny details as seen at Ralph & Russo. Secondly, when it comes to hair accessories, more is more.

Ulyana Seergenko

Make-up artist Val Garland has once again redefined the cat-eye at Ulyana Seergenko, drawing Twiggy-esque eyelashes right down onto the cheeks with eyeliner.

Chanel

Next time you’re stuck with five minutes to get ready, look to Chanel’s couture beauty look; slicked-back wet-look hair, tucked behind the ears, plus a wash of dusky, smouldering brown on the eye. Simple.

Giorgio Armani Privé

Blurred out lips aren’t going anywhere – start with a pale shade of lipsticks and dab on a brighter tone in the centre of your mouth for a three dimensional effect, as created by Linda Cantello, make-up artist at Giorgio Armani Privé.

Maison Margiela

Are you ready to wear lipstick in the shade mint chocolate chip? Perhaps not, but if you’re ready to move on from your everyday nude, try pastels shades of orange and pink lipstick as seen at Maison Margiela.

Valentino

Sure, you are never going to do this yourself, but please can we take a moment for Guido Palau’s Park Avenue helmet hair at Valentino? Awards must be given.

Guo Pei

MAC’s Global Senior Artist Dominic Skinner created a look he calls ‘Frost Bitten Princess’ at Guo Pei, complete with snow-tipped lashes and brows, icy skin, frosted eyes and flushed pink cheeks.
