Our Business of Beauty Awards are looming ever closer and this week, we’re chatting to each of the faces behind the hugely successful blogs in our Best Irish Beauty Blogger?category. Today, Sinead Cady from themakeupchair.ie?tells us about her blogging journey, beauty idols and more.
1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging to help me get a placement in college. I was told I needed to show an interest in make-up and the beauty industry to secure a placement and afterwards, it became my full-time job!
2. What’s your star sign?
I am a proud Sagittarius.
3. Which post has been your most successful?
My post ‘Eye Make-up For Beginners’ has six million views and almost 70 thousand likes!
4. Tell us about your biggest blogging disaster.
When I first started I didn’t know about the various copyright rules, I used popular music in my videos (mostly Britney!). This meant that none those of those videos could be monetised on youtube. We live and learn.
5. Favourite Instagram filter?
6. Ultimate selfie tip?
Good lighting! Move around to find the best light, whether it is behind you or in front – lighting can completely change the mood of a picture.
7. Which social media platform do you loathe?
Google+ – it’s not user-friendly and kind of useless.
8. Social bad habits which grind your teeth?
9. Best piece blogging advice you wish you knew when you started out?
You can’t please everyone but helping one person makes it worth it.
10. Who is your beauty idol?
Kate Middleton. She’s so classic.
11. Favourite hot beverage?
12. Favourite cool beverage?
13. Do you think there is a transparency issue in the Irish blogging community?
I think there used to be, but things are starting to change in the blogger community and this can only lead to a stronger and better connection with bloggers and followers.
