Vogue Williams shares her summer entertaining essentials

We are delighted to introduce Vogue Williams as IMAGE.ie's new Interiors columnist. In her second column, she shares the must-have items she's picking up ahead of a summer of al fresco entertaining.

It’s summer!!! I say that as I look outside at a rainy London, but still it’s time to get summer ready. Nothing says summer quite like an impromptu BBQ and I absolutely love a great tablescape – the brighter the better.

I love this lobster tray, think icy cold Palomas served off this bad boy. It’s from a gorgeous Irish brand called LNH. They also have these beautiful lobster napkin rings which I have already bought. They are really fun for a summer table.

I’m not a huge fan of a drink in a plastic cup, they make sense for outdoor dining but I still can’t bring myself to add any to my table. Drinks taste better in a glass and one of my favourite brands for glassware is  Glassette. They have the most beautiful handblown colourful glasses that any guest will be delighted with, you get to show off with these glasses!

I love a bright colourful pattern and the place mats from Balu London are so vibey. I own the lobster ones (I have a lobster obsession!) but these ones are also super cute.

I love a table full of different plates of food so everyone can serve themselves. Dunnes always have a great selection of bright summer pieces, I always go in for a great homeware bargain.

The end of any great dinner party is cheese and lots of it! Serve it on a beautiful tray like these ones from Oyoy Living, a casual stripe thrown in for good measure.

The Ellen Merchant napkins from Anthropologie are really cool. Sadly, they’re already out of stock but Anthropologie’s homeware selection is always outrageously good. I love the mix of colours and patterns. For me, the brighter the table the better.

If you want a quick garden transformation I can’t recommend an outdoor rug enough. I leave mine out all summer come rain hail or shine and then give it a quick power wash before storing it away for the winter. They will lift your garden space and look super chic too. It’s my dog’s favourite place to chill!
