Inside Kate Winslet’s Chelsea apartment that she just sold for over €4.7 million

Kate Winslet's four-bedroom apartment has a massive 158-square-metre roof garden and is full of stylish details.

Kate Winslet’s Chelsea apartment, on West 22nd Street in New York, has just sold for $5,699,000, which works out at over €4.7 million. Split over two floors, it has four bedrooms, a large kitchen and living area, and a particularly large roof garden.

The open plan kitchen and living space is a long, bright room with windows on three sides. The 13-foot ceilings also help emphasise the size of the space, which has white walls and white-washed wide-plank oak floors, adding to the bright feel.

Kate Winslet's apartment

The kitchen has a large wooden island with a breakfast bar on one side, and a sink and prep area on the other. There is also a huge six-burner range, perfect for cooking up meals for a crowd.

On this level, there are three bedrooms, including a main suite with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom with a claw-foot bathtub, while the other two bedrooms share another bathroom. The fourth bedroom is on the upper level, with another bathroom and wardrobe space, It alternatively could make a great office space, or an additional living area.

The wraparound roof terrace is also on this upper level, which measures 1,700 square feet. It has views of The High Line and the Hudson River, and pre-pandemic, we imagine there have definitely been some amazing parties hosted there.

Kate Winslet got this apartment as part of a divorce settlement from director Sam Mendes, and it was previously listed for rent for a cool $30,000 a month back in 2012 (which actually makes buying it for $5.7 million seem more cost-efficient).
