People Aren’t Happy With Jessica Alba’s Honest Company

People Aren’t Happy With Jessica Alba’s Honest Company

Jessica Alba and her Honest Company are quite literally feeling the heat this week, as some customers took to social media to say that their all-natural sunscreen lotion isn’t effective and, therefore, causes those who use it to get very sunburnt.

According to People, a small number of users have shared photos of their sunburned bodies, saying the sunscreen is ineffective, despite the company’s sunscreen lotion claiming it contains SPF 30.

Even though the number might be small, it’s a pretty big deal (and not safe either) if a lotion claiming to give you the protection of SPF 30 leaves you as burnt as the woman above.

ICYMI: Jessica Alba’s Honest Company Makes A Billion Dollars

The sunscreen products are now listed as “out of stock” on the Honest website, but in a statement, they say they stand behind the safety and efficiency of their product and said that they have no plans to pull it, despite the complaints. “The Honest Company is committed to providing safe and effective products, and we take all consumer feedback very seriously,” the company said in a statement. “Our Sunscreen Lotion was tested, by an independent 3rd party, against the protocols prescribed by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) monograph for over-the-counter sunscreen products. The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA’s highest rating), when used as directed (Shake Well. Apply liberally and evenly 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying and at least every 2 hours), they added.

Though the number of complaints has been relatively small in number, some complained they had only been out in the sun for one hour before they started to burn. This doesn’t bode well for the billion-dollar company; no one wants to use a dodgy sunscreen product. Here’s hoping they can re-examine the line. It’s so important to be protected fully if you’re going to be out in the sun for long periods.
